ABOUT
Art for me is a way to access images, patterns, color and light I see during the day and process it by working it out on paper. I paint and draw a lot of figurative forms like hands and eyes that make people feel less terrifying. I live with Schizoaffective and Borderline Personality Disorder.

I believe I am guided by my trans ancestors, and my higher power when I make my art, that I am channeling something greater than any individual or group which is how I process color and form in the abstract. I am also really influenced by European comic books which I collected as a kid growing up in Toronto and Munich and by artists like Paul Klee which are very simple yet complex.

I currently live and work in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and attended art school in Philadelphia 20 years ago. I have a degree in art education and work with youth a few weeks out of the year which I really enjoy. I also love folk art, outsider art, and street art/graffiti even though I had a classical training in oil painting, printmaking and figure modeling.

"I never dreamed that you would see [mania] the same thing as me when I went down the stairs in the hospitals, where everything would get magnified, and things were so bright too bright sometimes. Vincent Van Gogh has a lot of that too."-CJC
